On the road since 1990
Pello-based Kuljetus Kovalainen hit the road in December 1990, when bakery delivery truck driver Martti Kovalainen decided to establish a one-truck transport company. After a couple of years, the firm purchased a second truck for Martti’s wife Anne-Mari to drive.
The firm was registered as a limited-liability company in 1995. Its trading name is Kuljetus Kovalainen Oy.
Today, Kuljetus Kovalainen owns some 100 trucks and vans that traverse about 30,000 km of Northern Finnish roads each day. We handle thousands of special deliveries every weekday and our company employs about 200 people.
Our terminals are located in Oulu and Rovaniemi, in addition to which we operate freight loading terminals in Kemi, Pello and Sodankylä. The Oulu and Rovaniemi facilities have established their own delivery organisations, which enable us to offer our customers access to a wealth of local knowledge. Long-term customer relationships have contributed to our ability to create regular daily delivery routes inside our operating area.
Our active operating area stretches north from the Kokkola - Kuhmo axis, reaching all the way up to Kilpisjärvi and Nuorgami. We operate regular road transports from the greater Helsinki area and Kotka to Oulu and Rovaniemi. Our network of cooperation partners enables us to accept deliveries also to locations that are not within our basic operating area.
We transport and deliver both small and large domestic parcel freight consignments and packages from customer to customer, door to door, observing the there by tomorrow principle.
Honesty, integrity, reliability and fairness form our core values. Our personnel’s professional competence is of great importance to us, and accordingly we take good care of our employees. Our company also engages in charity child sponsorship and the sponsoring of young athletes.
